Most health care insurance offers coverage for mental health. I recommend that, before working with me, you contact your insurance company to obtain information about your mental health benefits and your annual deductible. Insurance will usually pay for individual and group therapy, and often for tele-health (phone or video) sessions as well. Most insurance does not cover couples therapy.
I’m a licensed independent clinical social worker who is an “out-of-network” provider for all insurance plans. Your insurance company may provide reimbursement for a substantial part of my services if your plan covers mental health treatment. You are responsible for payment of my fee at each session. I accept cash and checks. I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
You may want to ask your insurance company these questions:
How much will I be reimbursed for psychotherapy services from an “out-of-network” provider who is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington, DC?
In this time of COVID-19, will my insurance cover teletherapy?
The Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes your insurance company may ask you for are as follows:
Individual Psychotherapy: 90834
Group Psychotherapy: 90853
